100 Days of Wonder -#80
I’m watching Sports Personality of the Year. I’m not hugely focused on it though. Instead I’m thinking about my upcoming challenge. We fly out in three weeks and then we will be pretty much straight into the challenge.
Am I ready? Nope. But at the Disney runs I have previously seen others do the impossible and I have done the impossible. I learned to respect the distances but not fear them. I learned that running can be fun and I learned a lot about the mental game of running. In 2016 I hated, like nearly gave up hated, the section through ESPN World of Sport. So in 2019 I decided I would enjoy that section. I just decided. And it worked. So I’m deciding now that I’m going to go out there and enjoy it all. And if I don’t get round then so be it – but I will try and I will enjoy trying

I have been drawn to water today. Just as well really because it’s been pretty rainy. I’m also thinking about the marathon weekend I’ll be participating in in a month’s time. So here’s a picture of Epcot and the lake which I am actually looking forward to running round. I was thinking about that today as we plodded around the Alster in a rainy and windy Hamburg. I don’t feel particularly ready for the marathon weekend but today the run went well and there was no drama and some of it I actually really enjoyed. So I’m channeling my joy of running round bodies of water into the rest of my training and am keeping my fingers crossed for a bit of magic on the day.

Ah well this is what happens when you choose pictures in advance and when you are not quite thinking clearly. I chose this because I was going to have run this morning in Paris and because I somehow forgot about our visit to my dad and thought the next trip after Paris would be Disney. The castle to chateau picture was therefore perfect. But I didn’t run this morning because I felt really hungover – I didn’t drink so it wasn’t actually a hangover but it felt like it. I walked just over 2 miles instead and then several more round Paris. I’m currently at Schipol waiting for my connecting flight home and I am too tired to rethink the photo and write something meaningful. So here you have it, a picture of me gearing up for a silly challenge and more medals.
